Inner peace, calm and happiness; the harmonious balance between the mind, body and soul; the fulfilment and real purpose in life can be achieved by practicing Mantra Meditation

Mantra Meditation is the most effective practice and a way to reduce stress, relieve anxiety, and help achieve the highest levels of self-realization, find your real self-worth, and come to appreciate your existence’s deep and valuable purpose.

Our endless journey for fulfilment and sense of purpose is caused by a feeling of lacking something deep inside, confusion, uneasiness or even emptiness.

But we are neither the body nor the mind, we are spiritual in essence, and we are unknowingly searching for spiritual food.

So many different mindfulness and meditation techniques are available now, introduced as spiritual, but most don’t have long-lasting effects. At the very best, we can release tension and relax for a short time. So what is the real spiritual food? What can fulfil us internally?

What is mantra?

The actual spiritual Meditation, passed by authentic lineages of self-realized teachers in unchanged form, has spiritual potency and has the power to change hearts and minds because it contains a Transcendental Sound Vibration – Mantra. This sound is not made up; it’s not material, and it originates in the spiritual realm. This is what we are longing for. We’ve been introduced to and practised the line of the Gaudiya Vaishnavas (Brahma Sampradaya), which is known as Bhakti Yoga. 

The Sanskrit word “mana” means “mind” and “trayah” – “liberation.” Thus, the Mantra frees our minds from fear and helps us achieve real satisfaction. It has a cleansing effect and allows a person to rise from the material to the spiritual level.

Kirtan is the heart and soul of Yoga Meditation, as it’s singing or chanting spiritual Mantras. Those transcendental sounds can’t be made up; they don’t belong to any specific group, culture, or religion. Kirtan is the most diverse practice, cultivated by thousands of people worldwide since time immemorial.

Kirtan transcends all languages, nationalities, and religious faiths. Anyone can practice Kirtan; people of different ages, ethnicities, and cultural backgrounds can benefit from this joyful practice.

How to practice Kirtan

Kirtan is generally practised in a call-and-response style, where one person will lead the Kirtan by chanting a Mantra, and others respond together, repeating the Mantra.

It is sometimes called music meditation, as it incorporates playing musical instruments, singing, chanting and dancing.

However, it can be practised with or without instruments and in any musical style, loudly or softly. You can dance or sit; you can practice alone or in a small or large group.

There are no strict rules or qualifications; everyone can practice it in their own way and still benefit from it.
